Your Role in PBSC: Project Leaders

 

As Group Project Leader, you will be responsible for supervising students participating with you on your PBSC project. Your main responsibility is making sure your group completes the assigned project on time and of substantial quality for the organization. You are not only a mentor to the students you are working with, but you are a vital source of communication for PBSC. Please get in touch with the PBSC Coordinator with any questions that arise throughout the school year.

 

Here is a brief rundown of your responsibilities.

  • Divide project amongst group members;
  • Set up and facilitate group meetings;
  • Monitor project status;
  • Complete and submit monthly Status Reports to PBSC Coordinator;
  • Communicate and meet with supervising lawyer
  • Communicate and meet with organization;
  • Communicate and meet with PBSC Coordinator;
  • Ensure that the quality of your project is sufficient and it is completed on time

 

 

How do I get involved with PBSC as a Project Leader?

  1. Fill out a Project Leader Application
  2. Fill out an Student Legal Services Membership Application
  3. Remember to check off the “Pro Bono” section. This will not preclude you from joining other divisions such as Criminal, Civil or Legal Education/ Legal Reform.
  4. Hand in, fax or email both applications to the PBSC Coordinator at Emily Murphy House on campus.
  5. The PBSC Coordinator will use the informaton outlined in your application to match you with an organization. Students will be contacted by the Coordinator by email  regarding their placements.
  6. Attend the mandatory training seminar in September to meet your student group and to receive the outline of your specific projects.
